A Place to Grow, A Place to Belong
Alexandra's Home was created with a simple belief: that every child deserves to feel safe, valued, cared for and that they truly belong — with access to the therapeutic support, opportunities and experiences they need to heal, grow and reach their full potential.
We are a small, family-style residential children's home providing care for up to three children and young people aged 5–17. Our aim is to provide far more than a residential placement. We want Alexandra's Home to feel like exactly that — a home.
A place where children can build trusting relationships, experience stability and consistency, be supported through the challenges they have faced and have the opportunities to enjoy their childhood, discover their strengths and look towards their future with confidence.
Our approach is highly individualised. Everything we do is centred around understanding the individual child and creating an environment in which they can feel safe, develop meaningful relationships and thrive.
Why Alexandra's Home Was Created
More Than a Name
The name Alexandra's Home was chosen with purpose.
Alexandra means "defender of humankind" — a meaning that reflects our commitment to protect, advocate for and stand alongside children, providing the safety, support, love and opportunities they need to thrive.
The word "Home" was equally important. Our vision has never been simply to create a residential service. We wanted to create somewhere children could genuinely feel safe, valued and cared for; somewhere they could experience stability, build meaningful relationships, create positive memories and develop a true sense of belonging.
Alexandra's Home was founded from a passion to improve the lives and long-term outcomes of children who require residential care. We believe that a child's circumstances, experiences of trauma or need to live in residential care should never determine the opportunities available to them or what they can achieve in their future.
